# Toolsets

> Choose which Cohesive tools a client mounts, by URL path, header, or query.

The server mounts most of its tools by default. That's a lot of context for a client that only needs to read a Canvas, so you can narrow the selection per connection.

## The toolsets

`org` and `notify` stay out of `default` because organization management and notifications are rarely what an agent connector wants. Ask for them by name, or take everything with `all`.

The meta tools, `cohesive_info` and `cohesive_help`, mount on every selection. They sit outside the toolset model, so you can't name them and you can't turn them off.

## Choosing a selection

A selection is `default`, `all`, or a comma-separated list of names. Three ways to send it, checked in this order:

    `?tools=` is accepted as well.

Send nothing and you get `default`.

<Note>
  A name the server doesn't know is a `400`, not a silent omission. A mistyped connector URL fails at setup rather than quietly serving you half a tool list.

## Selections worth starting from

| Reading and editing Canvases only | `canvas` |
| Canvas work with attachments | `canvas,file` |
| Scheduled work | `automation,canvas` |
| Everything, including `org` and `notify` | `all` |
