# Chat tools

> Read-only tools for your chats.

`chat` · 2 tools · Mounted by `default`

Chats are read-only over MCP. You can list them and read one in full.

Every call also carries an exit code and timing in `_meta`, and errors come back as results rather than transport failures. See [Results](/mcp-server/reference/results).

## cohesive\_chat\_get

**Hints** — read-only, idempotent

Show one chat.

**Returns** — JSON, as text content and as structured content.

## cohesive\_chat\_list

**Hints** — read-only, idempotent

List your chats. Lists your live (non-archived) chats, newest first. Page with before using the previous page's pagination next\_ts.

| Argument | Type | Required | Description |

| `before` | string | Optional | Cursor: the previous page's pagination next\_ts. |
| `limit` | integer | Optional | Page size (server default 50, max 100). |
| `status` | array of string | Optional | Restrict to statuses (initialized, ready, processing, closed); repeatable. Values containing commas are split. One of `initialized`, `ready`, `processing`, `closed`. |
