# Meta tools

> The two tools mounted on every toolset selection.

`meta` · 2 tools · Mounted on every selection

These mount on every selection and sit outside the toolset model. You can't name them, and you can't turn them off.

Every call also carries an exit code and timing in `_meta`, and errors come back as results rather than transport failures. See [Results](/mcp-server/reference/results).

## cohesive\_info

**Hints** — read-only, idempotent

Show this server's identity and surface: server version, the authenticated user and organization, the API URL it talks to, mounted and available toolsets, and the tool count. Call it first when unsure who you are acting as.

Takes no arguments.

**Returns** — JSON, as text content and as structured content.

## cohesive\_help

**Hints** — read-only, idempotent

Return the full help for one tool, e.g. "`cohesive_canvas_node_add_note`", for a family of them, e.g. "`cohesive_canvas_node_`\*", or "" for an overview of this server's whole surface. Use it to learn the arguments and rules behind a tool's description, which is trimmed to a budget.

| Argument | Type | Required | Description |
| - | - | - | - |
| `tool` | string | Optional | The tool to describe, e.g. "`cohesive_canvas_node_add_note`", or a family, e.g. "`cohesive_canvas_node_`\*", for the tools under it; omit or "" for an overview of the whole surface. |

**Returns** — JSON, as text content and as structured content.
