# Connect your ChatGPT subscription

> Sign in with ChatGPT Plus or Pro and use your subscription for ChatGPT agent turns in Cohesive.

Connect your ChatGPT subscription through **OpenAI** in **Settings → Connectors → Model providers**.

You need access to your ChatGPT Plus or Pro account and the **Model providers** option in Cohesive. If OpenAI asks you to enable device code login, enable it in your ChatGPT security settings. Managed accounts may require an admin to allow it. See [OpenAI's device code sign-in instructions](https://learn.chatgpt.com/docs/auth#preferred-device-code-authentication-beta).

## Connect

  <Step title="Open the OpenAI connection">
    Open **Settings → Connectors → Model providers**. Click **Connect** beside **OpenAI**, or **Replace** to change an existing connection.

  <Step title="Start subscription sign-in">
    Select **Subscription** under **Credential Type**, then click **Connect OpenAI**. Cohesive opens the provider's sign-in page and displays a one-time code.

  <Step title="Enter the code at OpenAI">
    Sign in to the ChatGPT account whose subscription you want to use. Enter the code shown in Cohesive on the OpenAI page and approve the sign-in.

  <Step title="Return to Cohesive">
    Keep the Cohesive connection window open while you approve. It finishes automatically and the OpenAI row shows your connected account.

  <Step title="Choose ChatGPT for a new chat">
    Open a new chat or Canvas session. Before sending the first message, select **ChatGPT** in the agent picker, choose a model, and check for **your subscription** beside it.

Cohesive refreshes the connection as needed. You don't need to extract a token or run a terminal command.

## The sign-in page didn't open

Use the provider link beside the code in Cohesive to open it again. Keep the Cohesive window open so it can detect approval.

## The code expired or sign-in didn't finish

Click **Start again** if shown, or reopen the connection dialog. Use the new code and approve it while the connection window is open. Check that device code login is enabled for the account you're signing into.

## The connection works, but the chat uses platform credits

Connecting a subscription doesn't change an existing conversation's agent. Start a new chat and select **ChatGPT** before its first message. The **Cohesive** option continues to use platform credits; **OpenCode** doesn't use subscription credentials.

If the provider row shows **Error**, use **Replace** to sign in again. The row states which credential later turns will use while the personal connection is unavailable.

## Manage the connection

Use **Replace** to switch ChatGPT accounts or **Disconnect** to remove the connection. This connection doesn't copy your ChatGPT history into Cohesive.
