# Comment on a Canvas

> Pin shared discussions to Canvas content, reply to teammates, and resolve threads.

Use comments to discuss the Canvas with everyone who can access it. Comments are shared; agent chats remain private.

<Note>
  Comments appear when enabled for your organization. Canvas Viewers can comment as well as Editors and Owners. Archived Canvases are read-only.
</Note>

## Start a thread

<Steps>
  <Step title="Choose what to discuss">
    Point to a card or the location on the Canvas you want to annotate.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Add a comment">
    Press `Q`, or choose **Comment** from the menu, then place the comment. Use `C` when you want a private Quick Chat instead.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Write and send">
    Describe the question or change. The comment appears as a pin that collaborators can open.
  </Step>
</Steps>

A comment attached to a card follows that card when it moves. A comment placed on empty Canvas stays at its location.

## Reply and find threads

Click a pin to open its conversation and reply. The Canvas explorer also lists comment threads so you can find discussions on a crowded Canvas.

## Resolve and reopen

Choose **Resolve thread** when a discussion is finished. Resolved threads can be reopened with **Unresolve thread**.

Resolving a thread marks the discussion as handled; it doesn't change the card's content.

## Use comments as agent context

The agent can read Canvas comment threads when you ask it to review the feedback. Ask, for example: *"Read the unresolved comments and summarize the requested changes before editing."*

Posting a comment doesn't itself start an agent conversation or grant the agent permission to act. Direct the work from your private session and use [permission controls](/product/agent/permissions) to review commands.
