# Share a Workspace

> Give teammates continuing access to a Workspace's Canvases and files.

Share a Workspace when teammates need access to its ongoing work, including Canvases and files added later.

**My Workspace** is your personal Workspace. Create a separate Workspace for shared project or team work.

## Add members

    Find the Workspace in the left rail and open **Share** or **Add members** from its menu.

    Add members of your Cohesive organization as **Editors** or **Viewers**.

    Check the member list. Sharing applies to the Workspace's Canvases and Workspace files, including later additions.

## Roles

| Role | Access |
| - | - |
| **Owner** | View and edit the Workspace, manage its members, and archive it. |
| **Editor** | View and edit the work and manage Workspace membership. |
| **Viewer** | Read the Workspace's content. Comment on its Canvases when comments are enabled. |

The creator is the Owner. You can't assign or remove the Owner role through the sharing controls.

A Canvas can grant additional access directly. Removing a direct Canvas grant doesn't remove access inherited from a Workspace.

## What remains private

Members don't receive each other's chat histories or personal Skills. A private chat's files aren't shared just because the chat belongs to a Workspace. Deliberately adding a file to the shared Workspace makes it available there.

Sections and folders organize shared work; they don't create private areas inside it.

## Change or remove access

Open the Workspace's sharing controls and change or remove the member's role. Check for separate Canvas or file shares if you also need to remove those.

## Work with someone outside your organization

Live sharing currently uses organization membership. An admin can [invite someone to the organization](/product/account/organization), subject to available seats. A public [Canvas snapshot](/product/collaboration/public-canvases) or [published file](/product/files/publishing) provides read access without membership.
