# Gmail

> Search Gmail, read threads, and prepare email drafts from your Canvas context.

Connect Gmail to find and read email threads, bring messages onto a Canvas, and prepare drafts in your mailbox.

## What the agent can do

**Read**

* Search messages by sender, subject, date, label, or text.
* Read email threads and browse labels.
* Retrieve attachments through available email tools.

**Act**

* Create drafts and draft replies.
* Send a message to your own connected inbox with the built-in self-mail action.
* Create and apply labels, remove labels, and archive messages.

## Browse and drop

Browse labels and email threads in the Connectors rail, then drop a message or thread onto the Canvas.

## Connect

    Open **Settings → Connectors** and choose **Gmail** from the available catalog.

  <Step title="Authorize">
    Click **Connect**. Sign in with the Google account whose mailbox you want to use.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Check the connection">
    Confirm that it appears under **Connected**, then ask the agent to retrieve one item you can verify.

## Things to try

* *"Find the Acme renewal thread and add it to this Canvas."*
* *"Draft a reply using the dates in the selected proposal."*
* *"Which threads from this week still need an answer?"*

For messages to other people, asking for a draft gives you a review step in Gmail. Available outbound tools can differ by agent configuration; don't assume a draft has been sent.
