# Tabs

> Keep Canvases and chats open and switch between them without losing your place.

Tabs across the top of Cohesive hold open Canvases and chats. Workspaces organize those items in the left rail.

## Use tabs

* Click a tab to return to its Canvas or chat.
* Open another Canvas or chat from the rail or Home.
* Use an item's **Open in new tab** action where available.
* Close a tab when you're finished with it. Closing it doesn't archive the item.

Your open tabs are remembered in this browser. Canvas conversations and saved content belong to your account, so closing the browser doesn't remove them.

  You can keep up to 20 tabs open. Opening more removes the oldest entries from the open-tab list.
